What a season to remember! The St. Thomas Lions Club Major Midgets started out the season strong and continued to light up the score board all season long! Some of the season’s highlights include being finalists in the Silver Stick Regional ‘AA’ Tournament and Finalists in the Silver Stick International ‘A’ Tournament. They finished in 2nd place in the Alliance ‘A/AA’ League standings and Semi Finalists in the OMHA Regional Double Knockout Tournament as well as Semi Finalist in the STMHA tournament! A great season and the entire team should be very proud of all of their accomplishments!
As with the end of every season, it is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to those who will not be returning next season. Some of our graduating players have been involved with STMHA for more than 10 years and their experience and leadership will be missed. Goodbye to: Ricky Corkum (Goalie); Tyler Beaulieu (Captain); Brad Daly; Conner Hodgins-Depont; Zak Jukna; Adam Kohler; Taylor McArthur; Ryan McDonnell; Garret Rinas; Cody Taggart (Asst Captain); and Tanner Turley. We wish them luck as they take the next step in their lives… some will graduate this year and move on to College or University, some will enter the work force and hopefully, some will continue to play hockey in the Junior leagues!
The end of this season also marks the departure of some of the coaching staff. John Corkum (Head Coach), Bob Hepburn (Asst Coach) and Paul Galloway (Trainer) have all been involved with STMHA for many years and their contributions to both this team and STMHA will be greatly missed. Minor hockey can not exist without the ongoing support of great volunteers like these 3 coaches! Thank you for all your time and commitment!
All of the players, coaches and parents involved with the Major Midget program would like to thank STMHA for the opportunity to participate in this unique hockey program. The ongoing support of the organization and its members made this another great season.
