Tykes Split in Dorchester
The St.Thomas Jr. Stars Tyke Select 7 team traveled to Dorchester during the Christmas break for the annual Dorchester Tyke Classic Hockey Tournament and came away with a split through four games.

The first game St.Thomas was in tough against a strong Dorchester team. The previous meeting between these two teams a month ago resulted in a very lopsided victory for Dorchester. This game would prove to be different. The game was very tight with scoring opportunities going both ways, unfortunately Dorchester scored and skated away with a 1-0 victory. Our boys played hard but just couldn’t get one past their goalie. Anderson Walker was solid in goal and had his best game of the season between the pipes.

The second game pitted St.Thomas against Centre Wellington. In another tight game St.Thomas started the third period down 1-0. Until Aiden Holder sent Nolan Tales in all alone, Tales made no mistake and tied the game at 1-1. With time winding down, James Johnston sent the puck in deep, Owen McIntyre made a nifty pass out to Liam Kidder in the slot and Kidder buried the game winner. Mikey Devine backstopped the Jr. Stars to a 2-1 Victory.

The Third game saw us match up against the same Centre Wellington team we faced the previous day. This game lived up to expectations. The teams skated to a 1-1 tie through regulation and an overtime period. Tanner McGregor notched the lone tally on a nice pass from Holder. St.Thomas failed to find the twine in the shootout , while Centre Wellington squeaked one through. Walker was steady in net making several key saves.

The fourth and final game for the St.Thomas Tykes was against the Thamesford Attack. St.Thomas skated to a 6-2 win. Goals scored by Tales (2), McIntyre (2), Holder and Trent Rickwood. Assists to Carter Sampson, Josh Vigars, Brent Haggerty,  Holder ,McIntyre and Kidder. Mikey Devine was credited with the win with his stellar play.

The St.Thomas Jr Stars Tyke team played hard throughout the tournament and came up with some fantastic results. This would not be possible without a total team effort from players such as Clark Jackson, Tavis Morgan and Jack Zylstra anchoring the Blue line and the quick skating of Trent Clinton and Cameron Niles.
