A short handed goal by Connor Farrell propelled the Midget AE Junior Stars to a hard fought 2-1 victory. The Stars fell behind early with Petrolia scoring on their first shot of the game. That was the only goal that Spencer Verkade would surrender as he shut the gate for the remainder of the game. St Thomas pressure on the Petrolia was relentless as the Stars finally came up with the the equalizier from the stick of Clayton Varney in the second. The Varney goal was the result of great fore-checking and pressure from Varney's linemates Josh Chatten and call-up Taylor McArthur. That set the stage for Farrell's third period game winner. This was a great team victory, with countless players giving it their best efforts in the early parts of this season. Next action for the Stars is Wednesday November 3, 2010 versus Lambton Shores at the Timken Centre.
