ST THOMAS ATOM AE STARS WIN 4-2 over the St. Mary’s Rock
This win extends the regular season play to no losses in the last 8 games and an outstanding team record of 16-2-1 with 99 goals for and 35 against.

The game had high emotions running on the ice and on the bench as the ATOM AE STARS was assessed  20 minutes in minor penalties.  As well having another player; Josh Levesque; out of action for the rest of the season due to a sledding accident made the STARS very short on men.   Keep care of that arm dude; hope to see you out cheering on the team.   Despite being down player after player in the penalty box the team held it together for the win.

The defense did a terrific job in shutting down the offensive play of the Rock.  Getting the forwards frustrated as the STARS defense chipped away at their play.  The STARS wingers had an excellent game, banking the puck off the boards and getting in on the rushes down the ice.

Putting the STARS on the scoreboard first, with a pair of goals was Tysen Hunter, netting one on a rush up the wing and another winning a face off at center ice and making the goalie’s head spin as he deaked him out of his pants.  Caden Beshara scored another bullet as he skated from one end to the other unchallenged for the puck.  As St. Mary’s tried to get back into the game by pulling their goalie, with 2 minutes left and the score 3-2, David Gauthier split the defense and shot into the open net to call it a night.

The ATOM AE team will have to pull out all the stops and play their best as a team to keep a hold on first place in their league as the regular season ends next week against Lambton Shores.  Then it is off to Owen Sound to face the Attack in the OMHA preliminary round of the playdowns.

KEEP TO THE TEAMWORK BOYS!!!

GO STARS GO!!!!
