Elgin Chrysler Major Midgets – Early Bird Tournament Finalist
Submitted By S. Casey on Wednesday, September 23, 2009
The Elgin Chrysler Major Midgets played their first game as a new team at the Richmond Hill Early Bird Tournament on Friday September 18th, against South Porcupine.
The first game proved to be an adjustment period as the 15, 16 and 17 year old players began to jell as a new team.  Although the final score of 5-3 was in S. Porcupine’s favor, the team remained focused on the final target.

Game 2 vs. North York had a decidedly different outcome with a final score of 6-1 St. Thomas and game 3 added to their confidence with a win of 3-1 over host Richmond Hill.

After winning the ¼ final game 3-2 over Uxbridge… the players set their sites on the semi final vs. Ajax.  After 3 strong periods, St. Thomas proved they had what it takes to move on with a win of 2-1.

The weekend was 3 days of hard hitting, fast skating action packed hockey, and heading into the final game the boys could taste the gold… sadly after a nail biting 3rd period seeing St. Thomas come back after trailing 6-2, the final score of 6-5 for Cooksville was a hard pill to swallow!

As the weekend came to an end, it became clear that the St. Thomas Elgin Chrysler Major Midgets are going to be a team to watch this season!
