Series pushed to game five
Submitted By david vader on Saturday, February 20, 2010
After dropping the first two games of the series by scores of 5-4 and 6-0 to Belle River, the Maxwell's Cameras/Ansell's Awards midget AE team rebounded taking three of four points in games 3 and 4. On Thursday at Belle River each team netted two goals in the opening period with St. Thomas scoring the only goal of both the second and third periods to give St. Thomas the much needed 4-2 victory. Jacob Vader, Travis Verkade, Braden Hellems and Brad Holder scored for the Stars. Josh Peckham played well in net for the Stars with Chad Cote and Cody Hodgson recieving praise from coach Molinaro for their efforts. On Friday at the Timken Center goaltending again was a strength for St. Thomas with Spencer Verkade playing well between the pipes as the teams played to a 3-3 overtime tie. Jacob Perfect's first period goal tied the game after Belle River opened the scoring. Each team added two goals in the second period with Brad Holder and Garrett Nudds scoring for St. Thomas. Perfect and Nudds had strong games for St. Thomas who now travel to Belle River Saturday in a must win situation for their third game in as many nights. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
